Description

As any parent of babies knows, sleep is a precious, precious commodity. Scores of books and articles have been written on the subject, and one of the first questions any parent will hear, after "How cute! How old? Boy or girl?" is, "Does she sleep through the night?" Babies aren't designed to sleep through the night in their early months, but eventually, they can sleep for longer blocks of time...

  • 4 Soothing Sounds: Mother's Heartbeat, Spring Showers, Ocean Surf, and Whale Songs
  • Velcro tab to secure Sleep Sheep to the outside of a crib
  • Removable sound box with adjustable volume and on/off controls
  • Automatic time-out after 23 minutes

A MUST have for every new parent!

by C. Fisher from on 2010-07-27
If you are a new parent, you simply need the Sleep Sheep. It is the only way my 3rd child would sleep by himself during the 1st year. He is a great sleeper now at 2.5 without the Sleep Sheep - which is good because my 4th child uses it. Really, a must have!

Great for travel

by Goldilocks from Lewisville, TX on 2010-07-18
Great for travel! Worked well for my son (now 2) on many a trip until we left it on a plane one day. Bought the giraffe replacement and it is working for my 6 week old daughter as well.

Great product!

by Maureen from Seattle, WA United States on 2010-07-09
We received the Sleep Sheep as a gift and our son loves it! We've had it now for at least 6 months and the batteries are still going strong, despite using it for his two daily naps and at bedtime. The lamb itself is very soft and cuddly and our son particularly enjoys the 'rain' sounds. We bring this lamb with us everywhere for the soothing white noise. You can choose between either the 23 minute or 45 minute setting and the volume adjusts via dial. There is a velcro strap so you can affix the lamb to pretty much anything. I'd recommend this sweet nursery addition to anyone expecting a little one...I plan to give it as a shower gift to a friend later this month!

Good but not Great

by D. Ford from Brooklyn, NY on 2010-07-09
I purchased this for my baby daughter to help with putting her to sleep. I HOPED that this would work. I had no luck with this and at times seemed to irritate her more than soothe her. Don't get me wrong works well and I've had no problems with the product just that this JUST DID NOT WORK FOR HER. Basically it was a shot in the dark when purchasing because you never know if something like this will help or hinder! Either way i now have an addition to my older daughter PILE of stuffed animals! After all is said and done if this is something your child responds to then this may work for you. GOOD LUCK!

Adorable!

by Ginny Erickson from Volcano, CA United States on 2010-07-09
Very cuddly and nice soothing sounds. I got it for a baby shower but my husband was threatening to keep it himself....it does say ages 0-adult!

Baby loves it, so I do too.

by S. Armitage from on 2010-07-16
Not for introducing your baby to beautiful music; the tone is a bit unpleasant. However, I've been using this with my baby for 7 months and he still likes it. Happily, it has been more durable than I expected: it has been dropped, chewed on, shaken, and stirred. Battery life is average to good compared to other baby toys (especially if it gets turned off and not just muted!) The claw clip made it the perfect mobile for use with our pack-n-play, and between the clip and the elastic band, we've been able to attach it to almost anything.

Love this product

by lharpool from on 2010-06-27
I searched for this product on-line after seeing a friend who had one. I absolutely love it. It gives my little man something to look at and/or listen to when he gets a little fussy or is tired. The music is very soothing. I haven't taken it on a long drive yet but hope that it will help to sooth when I do have to take one.

Lovely item

by Ki Hong Pak from Ponte Vedra, FL on 2010-04-19
I ordered this because my 3 month old son suddenly decided he did not enjoy riding in the car anymore, at least not by himself in the backseat. Since I am unable to drive from the backseat, I decided a mobile might be a viable option. My favorite part about it is that the music does not ime out like in all of the other mobile and musical toys we have for him. It isn't exactly easy to reach back there while I am navigating through idiot traffic to keep turning a mobile back on! We love the item and have had no problems in the month we have been using it. I would recommend this item to anyone who asked.

Very handy

by J. A. Wilson from Columbus, Ga on 2010-04-15
This is very handy for the carseat. My son doesn't always appreciate being strapped into his seat. However I start his little mobile and he just stares at it. It helps to distract him, I wish I had had one with my first two!

Mixed feelings

by Robert Vanderpol II from San Diego wishing for Seattle on 2010-03-12
Delivery was prompt.
REALLY helps baby fall asleep.
Volume is a bit loud, but tape over speaker gives appropriate volume for putting baby to sleep. Pulling tape back gives appropriate awake volume.
Drive motor for mobile is as loud as music when speaker taped. White noise probably good for putting baby to sleep, annoying to adults.
BIG problem is that on/off switch broke at 1 month. The ears on the switch inside the machine are too thin, one side bent so slide would not return to off position. Am bending other side to equalize, flattening the bent side would be a short term solution. Am hoping this is longer term solution. Screws to open unit are a goofy triangle drive. Just the right size flat screw driver got them out but annoying.
Would only recommend this product to people willing to fiddle with mechanical things. Dealing with it this was a hassle but not a big one.
Someone who was extra ginger with the switch might do fine.
Happy to keep unit because REALLY helps baby sleep and don't mind fiddling.

Melted and left a pastic ring on my windshield!

by S. Zolnoski from on 2010-06-26
We purchased this mirror when we moved our son to his forward facing car seat. HUGE MISTAKE!!! It was very difficult to install and the locking mechanism for the mirror broke on the one time we tried to adjust its placement and would not come off of the windshield. About 1 month later we walked out on a warm day to find it hanging from a now melted and shredded suction cup. We had to forcefully pull the mirror from the windshield leaving a rubber ring of material still clinging to our windshield. HORRIBLE PRODUCT!!!

Poor suction!

by HHD from Astoria, NY United States on 2008-03-31
We've attached this mirror to our back window several times. It falls off before we can even go a few miles. It will not stay in place, and is a falling hazard. Save your money.

Works as designed

by NovaDriver from NOVA on 2010-07-11
This product works well when attached. As you move the stroller handle up and down your drink stays level. The holster is big enough for a 20oz bottle, don't think you are going to be able to fit a large nalgene bottle in this thing.

If you are using this on a baby jogger, make sure you remove it (has a quick release so you don't have to unscrew the whole thing) before folding it up. This think sticks out on the side and will break easily even if you are being extra careful with lugging your stroller in and out of your car. It isn't hard to do.

LOVE it! Works great with Maclaren!

by Melissa A. Schau from on 2009-12-28
Bought this cup holder after doing a lot of research on what type would work best with our Maclaren stroller. I purchased it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $16 (after using a 20%off coupon). If you follow the directions, it is easy to install on the square vertical frame post. I know some reviewers had put it on the foam handle, but I had no problem installing it on the frame itself and the stroller still closes and latches properly. We installed it on the left frame post if you are standing behind the stroller. The cupholder is great because it can easily be detatched from its holster if it is in the way or it is not needed. It has a simple twist screw that you can turn to lock or unlock it from its holster without having to remove the entire holster from the stroller. It fist a large plastic McDonald's cup easily and is very sturdy! Love it!

Not for us...

by mommy of two in md from on 2009-10-03
If you like this style of cup holder than you should like this. It seems very sturdy, like it would hold up well. We are not fans of this style but bought it just to be sure and compare to the Sunshine Kids and the other style Baby Jogger called the 'parent console'. Both of those attach and hang between the handles. We prefer the parent console. It looks like it belongs on the stroller. Doesn't dangle off and seem ready to break. We like that you can use one parent console style for 2 cups and still have a velcro storage area. You can also just have one cup and 2 velcroed storage areas. Stoller still collapses easily with console attached.

Not for Phil & Teds, Yes for Maclaren

by New mom from New York, NY on 2009-08-17
This cupholder did not fit around the tubing on the handlebar of our Phil & Teds Dash stroller. The opening is too narrow on the cupholder for the handlebar on the stroller--for the square sectrion and to try to wrap around the foam on the handle. We did not try to remove the foam covering on the handlebar, but the bar does appear to be thinner underneat the foam section. We tried to push back the foam covering, but were unable to push back enough of it to accommodate this item. We could not wrap the cupholder around the foam as that was also too wide.

It did fit easily on the handles of the Maclaren Quest. It is wrapped around the foam on that stroller, and we expect that there will be an indent after some time if we leave it on. And, we're able to folder the stroller with the cupholder attached.

Holds drinks well for us caffeine addicts

by Debbie working mom of two from Los Angeles, CA on 2008-05-05
Holds drinks well. Though coffee drinks still slosh out of the opening if full; but as expected with any holder if on the move. Only one that is adaptable for any stroller. Used same one for three different strollers thru the years. Cannot be without it!

I don't know if there's anything special about this cover...$30, organic, natural color, soft texture. I bet you could find something cheaper and of the same quality elsewhere, but I wanted one stop shopping so I bought the pad and the cover in one fell swoop from Amazon. It all arrived very timely.

Baby EInstein DVD

Not as good as others...

by J. Hendricker from Columbus, OH on 2010-03-10
I bought this DVD to give my 17 month old some more of the "older" baby einstein dvd's. Compared to some of the newer ones, this one is not my favorite. I was a music minor in college and was thrilled with the idea of the instruments. Unfortunately, my son did not really like this DVD. The puppet shows were very short and not very entertaining.

My son loves it - we'll "fix" the "problems" later

by pangirl from washington, dc on 2009-10-26
Wow - I was so surprised at the reviews this video received. We only have one other Baby Einstein video, so perhaps that's why I'm not offended by the lack of puppets or whatever.

I guess my thought here is that the video is simply to introduce the children to musical instruments. Perhaps the mistake was the title; it's not so much "meet the orchestra" as "meet some instruments", and maybe that title wouldn't have offended our classically trained musicians as much.

This is not a video he watches over and over, now that he's learned the instruments (when I first borrowed it from the library, he wanted to watch it over and over again. But isn't that like all of us? We put our latest toy down once we've tired of playing wiht it?). He's learned the instruments and can identify many of them when seeing them elsewhere. He also enjoyed us pointing out the ones that members of our family play. And he loved bringing out his own "toy" instruments whenever they showed one that he has.

I also think that this wouldn't be my only method of introducing music to my child. So who cares if the instruments are held backwards or the children aren't really playing them? Will the fact that our 18-month olds see that now prevent them from ever having a love of the orchestra? I really doubt it. Yes, they could have done things better, but this never pretended to be a teaching or instructional video.

For what it does - showing children instruments they may not otherwise have been exposed to - I think this is okay.

Disappointing!

by Albert E. from New Haven, CT on 2009-04-20
I had high hopes for what Disney could produce with Meet the Orchestra because we all know that when it comes to music, you can't start too young. The educational value of this DVD was limited and I would characterize it mostly as entertainment. It introduced the sight and sound (albeit synthesized) of the orchestral instruments. That's nice, but it is nothing a baby wouldn't have to watch more than a few times to learn.

For baby's musical development, my favorite baby DVD was Trebellina, which teaches notes pitch and tackles a number of instruments, instroducing them individually as well as together. There is a lot there to challenge baby (and my kids found it pretty darn entertaining as well). Brainy Baby isn't bad either.

Meet the Orchestra is great!!!

by L. Terpening from on 2008-09-22
We first borrowed Meet the Orchestra for our grandson's visit when he was 18 mo. old and he was "glued" to it from beginning to end. We purchased it for his next visit two months later and he was again fasinated by it. It teaches each instrument by name and sound as they methodically work their way through the sections of the orchestra. Animated characters, children and adults are each shown with the instruments. Beyond just entertainment, it's very educational. We grandparents and parents give it a five star rating!

It's just OK

by sps from on 2010-07-21
Loved the look of it on-line - then saw it in a store so I ordered. For me it doesn't have enough room. I'm a new Mom so perhaps I'm not as efficient as I need to be - so maybe I'll love it later, but for now, it's just OK. I'm using it and don't plan to buy another to replace it at this point, so hope it gets better.

Great diaper bag!

by el5 from on 2010-07-17
Great diaper bag! It is perfect for quick trips and everyday use. I love how it has magnets instead of velcro closure. The multiple pockets are great. I bought it to use as a diaper bag for when I am running errands, etc. It is made really well and with high quality materials

Really like this bag

by JLL from on 2010-07-16
I want to start off by saying I only have one 6 month old baby and have only used this diaper bag so I don't have anything to compare it to, but so far this is a great diaper bag for my needs. It holds quite a bit without being outrageously bulky. The strap is nicely adjustable, and I find all the pockets helpful. I have the Uptown Stripe and the pattern is really cute. It's not as bright as it looks in pics, which I think is good. It's just slightly more subtle and goes with everything without looking too girly, and it doesn't show much dirt. The fabric is very sturdy too--I have no doubt this will last just fine with no holes. There is a zipper compartment inside but the rest just closes with magnets. That can be good when you're trying to overstuff it and want to let stuff poke out the top, but it's not so great if you do tip it upside down because things can fall out! Overall I really like this bag and see it meeting my needs for quite a while.

simple, practical & cute

by eve g from Washington, DC on 2010-07-16
The Skip Hop Duo Deluxe looks great. I received it as a baby shower gift, and have yet to use it, but so far, love that it has ample room and tons of pockets. Loaded down with supplies, it's still comfortable to carry at my side or slung across me, and it's very easy to lock onto our stroller. And, my husband likes it too (which is great-- he'll be carrying it a lot!) Some reviewers complained that it was hard to find things in it, but I think that could be true for almost any bag in which you're carring a bunch of things. It's reasonably priced, and seems like it'll hold up well. I say, go for it!

Cute bag, not really pratical

by from on 2010-07-15
Pros:
I LOVE the way this bag looks!
Outside pockets are great for keeping a toy or book for easy access
Drawstring holds bottle or sippy cup, velcro pocket great and easy access for cell phone
Easily converts to hang on stroller

Cons:
No zipper. I have to be very careful not to let the bag tip over
Huge bag, but for some reason no enough room for the bare necessities (I purchased the SkipHop Diaper Bag Duo and all of the pieces dont fit in the bag). I always feel like I'm stuffing the bag
Strap to convert bag to hang on stroller arent long enough for my stroller (I have the Chicco Catalina), and the bag is heavy and tips the stroller over (if baby isnt in it).

I searched a LONG time before I purchased a diaper bag because I didnt want the average one from Babies R Us everyone seems to have, I wanted something different to match my personality, and I didnt want to pay an arm and a leg. Overall I'm neutral. I wont be buying another diaper bag, but I probably wont be carrying this once my son gets old enough not to need all the traveling necessities.

Not good if you cloth diaper

by Ashley Cheatham from St. Louis, MO on 2010-07-26
I was so excited when I received this bag as a gift at my shower. I had read so many great things about it. I was especially a fan of the stroller straps and the fact that it was a bag I knew my husband would carry. Unfortunately it is just not big enough in the main pocket especially if you cloth diaper. After 3 months of trying to cram diapers, an extra outfit, wipes and bottles it has finally given out on me. The inside pockets are tearing away from the inside of the bag. Very disappointing. I am on the search for a better bag for cloth diapering

love it!!

by Meredith K. Jimenez from Arizona on 2010-06-21
This bag is beautiful!! Just what I was looking for. This bag is definitely high quality and very practical I think. I absolutely love the stroller clip/straps to make it so much easier on outings. I know people think it is a little narrow, but it is again so much more practical that way when is it hanging on the stroller and it is plenty big for my baby's needs.

The BEST diaper bag!

by s.e.b from mid-west on 2010-06-15
I love Skip Hop Diaper bags! I had been using the Skip Hop Dash Deluxe Diaper bag for the past 2 years and I loved that one--I think this one is even BETTER! It holds a LOT more stuff and I absolutely love how they designed it--there are tons of zipper pouches all over the outside and a few on the inside--which I think makes for a more organized bag! When you need something small it's easier to grab it from the zipper pouch than having to dig for it! I got the lime green color!(on sale) I am about to have my second baby and I am so excited, this bag will accomodate all of my toddler's stuff and my new baby's things as well--and it's a lightweight bag so it won't break my arm! I am totally impressed--Skip Hop is the BEST!

Stylish, but not practical for new baby

by Joy from Gig Harbor, WA on 2010-06-03
This bag would be great if the body of the bag expanded. As it is, once you fill up a few pockets, you aren't able to put anything else in the bag unless you crammed it all in, in which case 1) the flap won't close and 2) you'd have to dump the contents of the bag to get to anything. The side pockets for the bottles were nice, but the front flap pockets were basically useless unless you stored small, flat items into it. I think my iPhone fit into the slot, but not my keys. The back zippered pocket above the slot for the changing pad fit a couple of diapers. The main compartment of the bag has elasticized pockets lining the sides, but once you filled two of the pockets, your space was pretty much maxed out. We chose this bag because it was sleek and didn't scream "diaper bag", but found it unusable for a newborn baby and ended up having to find another bag that would work out better. The built-in stroller clips were a nice touch though, that was my favorite feature. We're currently using a backpack and are still searching for a good diaper bag.

Great bag but not roomy.

by R. Cates from Austin, TX United States on 2010-05-21
The concept of this bag is great and it has tons of pockets but the main compartment is seriously lacking in size. There is no possible way you can put something in every single one of the pockets, inside and out. There simply isn't enough room! I consider myself a conservative carrier (I carry what we'll need and a few other things for 'just in case' situations) and it is not big enough for me. It looks great though and comes with a fantastic padded shoulder strap and stroller straps. I have been on the hunt for the perfect diaper bag and have yet to find it. No one bag has yet to encompass all the best things about a diaper bag - roomy, lotsa pockets, stroller straps, attractive, padded shoulder strap, etc. You will have to compromise on something, I just couldn't compromise on room.

Decent product, horrible company/service

by D. Warner from Waverly, IA United States on 2010-06-12
A friend got the i-Ride Pro somewhere and I was impressed with its sound. I ordered the i-Ride Pro product from the company two weeks ago. I was charged the same day but still do not have the product after two weeks. I have emailed and called the company several times leaving a message with their answering service. No product, no response, no delivery estimates. Buyer beware!!!

Innovative Product - Great for Rocky Mountain Climbs

by Michael A. Luby from Denver, CO on 2009-09-28
I've had my i-Ride for over 5 years and love it! I ride in the Bicycle Tour of Colorado or the Ride The Rockies every year and this product is great for the long mountain climbs. I've had no problems with it - mounting it on my bike, turning it on or off when I'm riding, or taking it off at the end of a day. It's a lot safer than wearing ear-buds and I get to share the music with other riders during climbs that can last 20 miles. I've had so many positive comments that a couple of years ago, I bought 7 more and gave them avay, with an iPod, to arm cyclists during the first climb of each day. The clip that holds the speakers can be a little tricky, so just be careful when removing them. The quality is good for outdoors with plenty of volume. Batteries will last about 8 hours of continous use, so I take plenty of spares for a week long ride.

awful product...even worse customer service from active tunes...not this seller.

by Kate C. Gilson from Waukesha, WI USA on 2009-05-22
I purchase this product a few months ago. When I went to hook it up to the stroller, the clasp immediately broke before it was even half way tightened. Then, when I put the batteries in, the speaker got so hot I could barely touch it, and even burned my fingers trying to get the batteries out! I called Active Tunes and was told they would send a replacement within 2-3 business days. That was 2.5 weeks ago. I have called twice since then and my calls have never been returned. Again, this is not a reflection on this seller, just the parent company Active Tunes. Awful, awful customer service!! So disappointed. I really wanted to enjoy this product. Now I just want my money back...if anyone would return my calls. Buyer beware!!!!

Broke the first day - inherently unworkable design -

by B. Kline from Palo Alto, CA, USA on 2009-04-24
I ride almost every day on trails or roads where there are people, cars, or other bikers - and I wanted some way to listen to music without having to wear headphone so I could hear what was going on around me, and not get a ticket either. I thought the i-Ride Active Tunes Bicycle Stereo System would be the answer - I was totally wrong.

The speakers are decent, obviously cheap, but I am not looking for audiophile quality, just something to hear music, radio or audiobooks on my bike rides.

The problem is the plastic base that holds the speakers to the handlebars. It is the black piece that is directly under the speakers in the photo. The mount is flexible plastic and only about 1/16 inch thick. What happened with me is I followed the instructions - first, to stick these rubber pads on the handlebars where you want to mount the speakers so that the mount does not move around (it still does a little bit), then screwed the mount together around the handlebars (instructions warn you not to screw it too tight, which I did not). Then you "snap" the speaker fixture into this cheap plastic base and secure it with a special rubber band and you are off. The speakers performed reasonable well, and I got a lot of smiles as I rode by with tinny music playing.

After the bike ride to remove the speaker you have to pull back a plastic piece that releases the speaker, and the force you need is too much for the whole thin cheap plastic mount. Mine broke the first time I removed it.

At this point I like the speakers so I am going to end up making my own replacement mount, but this product should never have made it to market. They either did not test it, because any use of it I can imagine would break just like I did - or - they went ahead and sold it hoping to make back their money on a shoddy product that they know will break right out of the gate. They already have a new product out that costs much more and hangs in a bag from your handlebars.

Shame on i-Ride for taking what should be a great idea and going through all the trouble of designing and manufacturing this thing and selling a poor product that does not work.

With a minor design change or using some thicker plastic, and a more robust mounting system it would have been fine ... maybe putting the rubber pads inside the mounting system so you have some flexibility where to fasten it to your handlebars in case you need to move it at some point.

The speakers are passable, the mount is a total rip-off and whoever designed it should be forced to make personal restitution to those of us who bought this thing, or give us the new version for free in my opinion because releasing this to market was deliberate.

I was hoping to be able to write a glowing review about a company that saw a small market niche and creatively rushed to fill it. Too bad!

Does anyone have the Maclaren Volo?

So my husband did something stupid (haha, not really stupid, but ...) move to pull the stroller below the shelf at Target and playing with it.He 's tall (6'5) and the only reason was because it was taller than other strollers umbrella. Turns out we both love it! Noah put it to test it out and not even feel like I was in (he weighs about 26 lbs) .. For us, however, also is a bit expensive ($ 100 at Target) so I do not want it without knowing how others felt / feel about it. Therefore, if you have had one, do you like? Are there defects I miss her (obviously you can not get too much of a feel for it turning around in the baby section!)?

Yes, we have, its fantastic. We bought our new, sealed in the box, free shipping on eBay for $ 70. Faltas, the basket underneath is not much. 'S +, has higher size small children, friendly high for tall parents (I'm 5'10 "), its super lightweight 8 pounds and has a carrying strap which is the Rolls Royce of affordable umbrella strollers
